Marching Band focus on percussionist with other horn players on a football field

Mercer University Marching Band

Entertaining thousands of fans with our spirited, high-energy performances, the Mercer University Marching Band enjoys a reputation as one of the finest collegiate marching bands in the Southeast. In addition, the Mercer University Marching Band represents nearly every academic major at Mercer, and maintains some of the highest GPA’s on campus. The band performs for halftime at every home football game and typically travels with the full band to one away game each year. The band also performs as an exhibition group at one or two high school marching band competitions every year.

Marching Band is a one credit hour class that rehearses on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as a select few Fridays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. There are NO auditions for any section of the band! Anyone with the desire and passion to perform and work hard is welcome to be a part of the Mercer Band Family. Members also participate in Early Week (Mercer’s Band Camp) and can move into their residence hall a week earlier than the rest of the student body.

Mercer University Pep Band

The Pep Band performs at all men’s and women’s home basketball games with a repertoire selected from a wide variety of pep band tunes as well as all of the favorite Mercer cheers! The band also performs for select volleyball, baseball and soccer games, as well as other athletic-related events.

Students interested in receiving more information about the marching and/or pep bands should contact the Director of Athletic Bands, Dr. Nathan Gay.
