Music Day in the Life

The Townsend School of Music hosts several “Music Day in the Life” days for prospective music majors as optional experiences the day before two audition days in the spring, and two days in the fall. Prospective students can participate in a customized experience at the School of Music, highlighting activities:

  • Q&A session with Dean Gary Gerber
  • Various rehearsals and classes
  • Lunch on campus with current students
  • An evening performance
  • A walking campus tour

Keyboard Day/Music Day in the Life

The Townsend School of Music is hosting Keyboard Day for high school pianists and organists on February 7, 2025, in conjunction with Music Day in the Life. This is a free event for keyboardists in grades 9 through 12, and will include a full day of events:

  • Master classes and lessons
  • Music theory class
  • Introduction to the organ and harpsichord
  • Introduction to collaborative piano
  • Complimentary lunch
  • Mercer University Keyboard Area showcase concert at 7:30 p.m.: Collectively: All About Collaborative Piano, produced by Dr. Kyung-A Yoo.
